Knights of Monymusk

The Knights of Monymusk specialise in re-enacting the life and times of the peoples of Medieval Scotland. We specialise in portraying “living history” and will bring to life the characters from the period, demonstrating the everyday skills used by these people, from scribe to storyteller, knight to beggar thief, black monk to lady minstrel. The public – especially children, who can join their own “army” are encouraged to ask questions and join in the fun : to listen to the stories, try on the chainmail and helmets and try archery, mail-making writing with quills, herb-craft, playing simple instruments and making up their own designs for shields, Adults can even have their fortunes told.

We welcome enthusiastic volunteers interested in having fun.  Children love “dressing-up” and being part of the action, playing period games and learning the life of a soldier and his family.  Our female members also don period garb, manage the baggage train, do most of the cooking under field conditions (an art in itself!) and practice many other period skills. Some even learn to fight.  We welcome enthusiastic volunteers interested in having fun.
